Description
Nose reconstruction is a procedure whereby the appearance of the nose is altered. One can change the shape of the tip, the height and width of the bridge, the width of the nostrils and the angle between the nose and the upper lip. It is also used to correct breathing problems aside from its obviously aesthetic applications.
What is the duration of the nose surgery in Thailand?
The procedure should take no more than 2 hours.
Who is a candidate for nose surgery?
Nose surgery should only be attempted when the nose has finished growing at around the age of 14 – 15 years. A perfect candidate for nose surgery is someone who is dissatisfied with the shape of their nose. If the nose has a bulbous tip, a bump on the bridge of the nose, then you may consider this procedure. A naturally crooked nose or one that is malformed due to injury, overly large or tiny nostrils, a wide bridge or people who have small noses in comparison to the rest of their features may all consider nose surgery in Thailand. This is also true if the patient suffers from breathing difficulties due to irregularities in the nasal cavities.
How is the nose surgery performed?
There are two approaches that the surgeon can take, namely closed and open approach. Open nose surgery is performed when an incision is made in the skin that separates the nostrils and the soft tissue and skin are lifted from the bone, which is reshaped along with the cartilage if necessary. In the closed nose surgery procedure, the incisions are made inside the nostrils, but otherwise the procedure is exactly the same.
What to expect from nose surgery in Thailand?
Nose surgery can make a dramatic change to the overall appearance of the face, particularly if you have a large hooked nose, a wide nose or noticeably large, flat nostrils. This surgical procedure will bring the nose into proportion with the rest of the face, adding to the overall pleasing effect of beautifully balanced features.
What are the possible risks and side effects involved with nose surgery in Thailand?
Complications with nose surgery are rare; however bleeding, infection and deviations of the nasal implants resulting in an asymmetrical nose can be some of the problems experienced by certain patients.
How long does the patient need to remain in hospital for after nose surgery?
Nose surgery is usually an out-patient procedure but in the case of a reshaping procedure, as well as nose correction, the patient would need to remain in the hospital for 1 night. For the Osteotomy Malarplasty procedure the patient will need to remain in the hospital for 2 nights.
Are there any scars left after nose surgery?
The scars are generally well hidden, either inside the nostril cavity or at the base of the nose.
What type of Anaesthesia is used?
General anaesthesia is used, occasionally in combination with sedative.
Frequently asked questions:
How much pain is there?
The pain is minimal but can be easily controlled with mild analgesics.
What is the cost?
The cost of the nose surgery will vary according to the location, the procedure required, the techniques used by your particular surgeon and any complications that may occur during or after the procedure.
