Alarplasty in Thailand

The nose defines the balance of the face and a beautifully shaped nose that is in balance with the rest of the features defines beauty.  A well-shaped nose has a straight bridge, a neat rounded tip and nostrils that are the ideal size in proportion to the rest of the nose.  Alarplasty in Thailand is a popular procedure for defining and correcting the symmetry of the nose.

Description

Alarplasty in Thailand is a surgical procedure that focuses on reducing the nostril width or nostril flaring.  It is often used in conjunction with other types of nose surgery but can be done as a stand alone procedure to bring a more balanced appearance to the nose.

What is the duration of alarplasty in Thailand?

The alarplasty surgical procedure should take no more than 1 – 2 hours.

Who is a candidate for alarplasty in Thailand?

The ideal alarplasty candidate is someone who is dissatisfied with the size and shape of their nostrils.  A person whose nostrils are proportionately larger in comparison to their other facial features or who has, alternatively, extremely pinched nostrils is also an ideal candidate for alarplasty in Thailand.  The candidate must be older than 14 or 15 years of age as the nose must be fully developed before any alterations are made.

How is the surgery performed?

The surgeon makes an incision where the nose wall meets the cheek.  Excess skin, fatty tissue and muscle are trimmed away, the nostril is repositioned and then reattached using fine sutures.

What to expect from alarplasty in Thailand?

Alarplasty can make a dramatic difference to the appearance of the nose by altering the size and shape of the nostrils.  It can create a harmonious balance to the face when the nose is properly in proportion to the rest of the features.

What are the possible risks and side effects involved with alarplasty?

It is rare to have complications with this type of surgery, but possible risks include bleeding, infection, an asymmetrical appearance to the nose due to improper alignment during surgery, temporary bruising and scarring.

How long does a patient need to stay in hospital after surgery?

Alarplasty is an outpatient procedure and there should be no need for you to stay overnight in hospital.  Generally you should be able to go home an hour after surgery.

Are there any scars left after surgery?

Any scars should be well hidden in the natural creases where the nostrils meet the cheeks and these should fade to near invisible lines over time.

What type of anaesthesia is used?

Alarplasty is performed under general anaesthesia, sometimes in combination with a sedative.

Frequently asked questions:

How much pain is there?

There will be some mild pain, but this can easily be controlled with the use of mild analgesics.

How long do the effects of alarplasty last?

The repositioning of the nostrils in the alarplasty procedure are very long lasting though with age the size and shape of the nose will change over time.
