Hair Transplant Thailand

Give me a head with hair, long beautiful hair, shining, streaming, gleaming, flaxen and waxen.  It has long been said that a woman’s hair is her crowning glory.  The same can be said for men.  A head of healthy hair denotes virility, health and beauty.  For some, genetics, hormonal imbalances or illness can affect hair growth and male pattern baldness in both men and women can leave the person feeling self-conscious and unhappy with their appearance.

Description

In this surgical procedure hair follicles are removed from one part of the scalp and are replaced in the balding area to give the hair a fuller, thicker appearance.  The transplanted hair is immune to balding and the patient therefore enjoys a restored appearance.

What is the length of the surgery?

Hair transplant surgery can range anywhere from 4 – 8 hours.

Who is a candidate for hair transplant surgery in Thailand?

The ideal candidate is one suffering from male pattern baldness where the hair on the top of the head has thinned significantly.  Male pattern baldness can also occur in women and this treatment is suitable for both.

How is the surgery performed?

Photographs are taken of the entire head and then the hairline is traced out.  The head is thoroughly shampooed and then a mild sedative is administered along with a local anesthetic.  The donor tissue containing the hair follicles is removed and using a stereo microscope the hair is transplanted into the bald area and the donor region is sutured closed.

What does a patient expect from a hair transplant in Thailand?

The hair transplant procedure is a permanent solution to baldness and assists in beautifying the overall appearance of the individual.

What are the risks and side effects involved in hair transplant surgery?

Patients can expect to experience swelling and redness for the first few days with scabbing in the transplant area.  Occasionally pimples or acne can occur on the scalp and numbness may be experienced.  Bald patches or hair thinning can occur.

How long must the patient stay in hospital?

The patient can return home after the surgery and does not require an overnight stay in hospital.

Are there any noticeable scars?

There should be no noticeable scars as minor scars will be hidden by the surrounding hair.

What type of Anaesthesia is used?

A local anesthetic is used for the hair transplant procedure in Thailand.  Pain medication may be administered afterwards to help with any initial discomfort.

Frequently asked questions:

Is hair transplant surgery painful?

There should be minimal pain or discomfort associated with the surgery and this can be controlled with a mild analgesic.

What care is required with the transplanted hair?

The patient can treat their transplanted hair as normal hair and can shampoo, blow dry, cut and colour the hair as normal.  Normal activities can be resumed after healing and can include swimming and strenuous exercise.
